The resource-generation system from the first game has been modified. Players will still capture specific flagged points all over the map to collect manpower, munitions, and fuel credits, which will be invested in assembling their units. Instead of the soldier units actually gathering at the flagged point itself, capturing the point is possible if the player's units are inside a specific zone with no enemy units in sight. Instead of predefined manpower, munitions, and fuel credits, players can customize the flag points to be either one of the three types. The accumulation of these resources and the size of the player's army can be much faster if players capture various flagged points all over the map. In order for a player to receive the benefits of a flagged point he owns, it must be part of his contiguous area of captured territory, thus allowing an unbroken chain ("supply line") to be traced back to his headquarters. Thus, the resource intake and population cap will be curtailed if the opposing side captures territory that isolates ("cuts off") owned points from other allied sections in the map.

Battlefield 3 features the combined arms battles across single-player, co-operative and multiplayer modes. It reintroduces several elements absent from the Bad Company games, including fighter jets, the prone position and 64-player battles on PC.^[9][10] To accommodate the lower player count on consoles, the ground area is limited for Xbox 360 and PS3, though fly space remains the same.^[11]

During an interview with Game Informer, EA stated that Commander Mode is unlikely to be included,^[12] which was met with some criticism on the EA forum.^[13] The game features maps set in Paris, Tehran (as well as other locations in Iran), Sulaymaniyah,New York, Wake Island, Oman, Kuwait and other parts of the Persian Gulf. The maps cover urban streets, metropolitan downtown areas, and open landscapes suited to vehicle combat.^[14] Battlefield 3 introduces the "Battlelog"; a free cross-platform social service with built-in text messaging, voice communications, game statistics, and the ability to join games that friends are already playing (though both players need to be on the same platform).^[15]

Similar to other games in the series, Crysis 3 is a multi-platform futuristic video game set in New York City with realistic rendering of NYC and manipulation of special abilities. Players can choose a gameplay style based on direct confrontation, or a more discreet and stealthy approach in order to deal with enemies.

Hacking is one of the new features which can be used to hack security codes, weapon boxes, ceph technology, mines, lasers and even sentry turrets (can be used to kill enemies and ceph). Another new feature is the ceph's own weapons can now be used to kill enemies, including cephs.

Up to 16 players on the PC and 12 players on consoles are supported in each multiplayer match, which uses the Origin client and requires the user to have an existing user account or otherwise create a new one. It uses a client/server model to deliver multiplayer matches, as opposed to a peer-to-peer model. There are 8 different modes and 6 modifiers, each with 12 available maps.

Mass Effect 2 is a single-player action role-playing game where the player takes the role of Commander Shepard through athird-person perspective. Shepard's gender, appearance, military background, combat-training and first name are determined by the player before the game begins. The player may choose to import a character from a completed saved game of the original Mass Effect or start the game with a new hero. Importing an old character allows several decisions the player made in the original game to impact the story of Mass Effect 2 and grants the player a set of starting bonuses.The game features six different character classes for the player to choose from. Each class is proficient in a different set of powers and weapon types. For example, the Vanguard class is specialized in close-range combat and shotguns, while the Infiltrator class relies on stealth combat and the use of sniper rifles.

The world of Mass Effect 2 is a galaxy map that the player can explore to find and complete quests. Most quests consist of combat missions, but some involve the player interacting with local characters during visits to settlements. As the player progresses throughout the game, different locations and new squad members become available. Experience points are gained by completing quests. Each time a sufficient amount of experience is obtained, the player "levels up" and is awarded Squad Points that can be used to develop powers for both Shepard and the members of the squad. Powers provide enhanced combat capabilities, with each power having four ranks that can be unlocked.Each rank costs the same number of Squad Points as its rank. For example, unlocking the first rank of a power requires one point, but unlocking all four ranks of a single power requires a total of ten points. Upon raising a power to its fourth rank, the player must evolve the power into one of two given forms.

The player's primary mode of transportation is a starship which serves as Shepard's base of operations. Aboard the ship, the player can interact with the squad members, customize the player's armor, travel to numerous planetary systems, and scan planets for mineral resources. These resources allow the player to research numerous in-game upgrades that are found in the missions, providing benefits such as increasing weapon damage, fortifying the player's health, or extending the ship's fuel capacity, among others.^[ Scanning requires the player to move a reticle over a planet and launch a probe when an oscilloscope warns of near resources. Additional upgrades, equipment, and nonessential items such as magazines and decorations for the ship can be purchased from merchants in settlements.

Resident Evil 6 allows players to select between four scenarios with connected storylines, each with their own intentionally different design. Each scenario follows one of four main protagonists - Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Jake Muller and Ada Wong. The player characters from each scenario will have their own partners which are controlled by either the computer AI or another human player via local or online multiplayer. When playing in single player, the player can allow another player to join in online at any time and inventories are now kept separate from each other.^[5] The game also features the Mercenaries mode, where players fight hordes of enemies, and the Agent Hunt mode which allows players to take control of random enemies in other people's games.
